The Bridge Training Program for Registration and Employment in Mental Health (BREM) is funded by the Government of Ontario and delivered by The Mennonite New Life Centre of Toronto, in partnership with community-based mental health and settlement organizations. BREM offers internationally trained mental health professionals two program streams:

Preparation for Employment Stream:

Minimum of 9 months, full-time program of over 800 hours, including 4-6 months of supervised placement, mentoring and job search supports.

The main goal of this program stream: Preparing participants to find meaningful employment in the field of mental health.

 

Preparation for Registration and Employment stream:

Minimum of 14 months, full time program, including enhanced academic curriculum (over 1,100 hours, including a course series in psychotherapy), 6 months of supervised placement, SEUS seminar (Safe and Effective Use of Self), small group clinical supervision, mentoring and job search supports.

The main goal of this program stream: Preparing participants for registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)* and for employment in the field.

*Note: Although BREM has made every attempt to align program content to requirements of the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), a final decision as to an applicant’s fulfillment of registration requirements and interpretation of those requirements rests entirely with the College. BREM participants are urged to check with the College (www.crpo.ca) regarding their own qualifications and whether this or any program is sufficient to meet competency requirements.
